Release of new Bejeweled game

PopCap Games announced a new Bejeweled release, Bejeweled Twist, due out next month (October). Many gamers have played Bejeweled on many different devices and even in World of Warcraft. Bejeweled Twist is suppose to be just as revolutionary as the first Bejeweled and promises to bring a “completely new perspective” to the match 3 genre.

PopCap is holding an unveiling for the game, which is the first time this has ever been done in the history of casual game releases. The game will only, initially, be available from PopCap’s website for $19.95.

I can’t wait to see what this version of Bejeweled is like. The first Bejeweled is a great game and is still entertaining enough to pass the time, but I am excited to see the changes they have made. I am also interested to see how Bejeweled Twist will change the match 3 genre.

Casual Connect Kyiv 2008 Conference

The CGA is running two events in the months ahead following the success of the July Casual Connect event in Seattle. Casual Connect Kyiv takes place from October 22nd to 24th in Kyiv, Ukraine - an area that boasts a large talent pool of casual games studios. Last year's event saw over 500 casual games industry professionals and 75 regional publishers and development studios attend. More details can be found at kyiv.casualconnect.org. Let's see what this year brings us - who knows what new ideas will be born at the conference?

Indie Video Games Still Popular

Over the years, the gaming industry has been shrinking to a handful of big players that use large teams of in-house programmers. But Microsoft, Sony Corp. and Nintendo Co. have all opened up digital distribution channels to their consoles. The financial risk is low, and it helps console makers keep an eye on up-and-coming talent and ideas. Is also boosts the number of exclusive titles for each machine and allows independent game designers get in the market.

Geography of Internet Usage

If I asked you, where would you say most of Internet users come from? In fact, more than 37 % of web-surfers come from Asia, followed by Europeans (27.1 %) and North Americans (17.5 %). Latin America/Caribbean, Africa, Middle East and Oceania/Australia comprise only 17.8 % in total. But, which is the most interesting, Internet growth from year 2000 till nowadays is the most prominent (1030.2 %) where would you think? In Africa. Africans, welcome to the Internet community!
