Downloadable game is a file (usually about 10-15 MB in size) to be downloaded on the I-net and installed on the user's computer. It runs as a separate program that works offline and does not require the I-net connection.
As a rule, downloadable games are richer in graphics and feature sets than online(web) games. However, unlike web games, they are distributed on a shareware, i.e. try-before-you-buy basis. That means, games of this type normally offer time- and/or feature-limited trial period. Once it is over, a user is no longer able to run the game and has to buy it. After the full version of the game is enabled, a user can access unlimited game play.
