Tetris is a very popular puzzle game. The original version of it was designed and programmed by Alexey Pazhitnov, a Russian programmer, in 1985. But only in 1989 the game became really popular as Nintendo released it on its Game Boy system. Nowadays Tetris is released on a number of platforms.
The object of the game is to manipulate groups of four square blocks called tetrominoes or tetrads. There are seven kinds of tetrominoes called I, J, L, O, S, T, and Z. These pieces are falling down on the playfield and the purpose of the game is to make a line of tetrominoes. To do it, one moves falling blocks left or right and rotates them. Once a line without gaps is created, it disappears from the playing field. The objective is to delete from the field as many lines as possible to let the new tetrominoes enter the playing field. When the field is filled with pieces and no new blocks can enter the field, the game is over.
