Macintosh (abbreviation Mac is also widely used) is a series of personal computers designed and manufactured by Apple Computer corporation. The first Macintosh appeared in 1984 and was named after McIntosh apple. Nowadays, desktop and portable types of Macs include the following models: Mac mini, iMac, Mac Pro, Mac Book, Mac Book Pro, Xserve. Mac OS includes a series of graphical user interface-based operating systems developed by Apple Computer. Nowadays, Macs have a Mac OS v. 10.4.8. In 2007 Apple plans to release Mac OS X v10.5.
