Artist Colony - Talent Growing
Artist Colony is a new simulation game developed by Nikitiva and published by I-play. Even though the game looks a lot like such hits of the genre as Virtual Villagers or The Sims, it does have some new entertaining twists to offer you.
You are to deal with people like painters, sculptors, musicians, dancers and photographers as you run an inherited refuge for them.
The most addictive part of the game is that you get involved into the emotional life of the characters.
Not only are you responsible for taking care of them and do everything they need, but you also soon learn that they can develop feelings toward one another. And as it often happens in real life those feelings are not always reciprocated.
But doesn't that make sense? It is being at the highest or lowest point on the love scale that motivates people to create the most beautiful pieces of art.
Tasks for you in this game range from the menial (clean away leaves or snow) to the important (restore and upgrade key structures) to the beneficial (sell pieces of art, or performances, to visitors for cash). And all three are interconnected.
If your genius-to-be talents are hungry it is your responsibility to feed them taking them to the kitchen, if they lack inspiration you drag them to something beautiful (e.g. flowers) to feed their creativity.
Sometimes you will have to go all over the screen to find one of those inspiring things but that only raises the challenge level and makes it more interesting to play. In other words you do whatever it takes for them to finally become genius.
In total, the game features about 500 masterpieces and 30 characters to come to and leave your colony. The idea of the game is woven into the genre limits perfecly and offers an enjoyable experience.
Artist Colony would be a great introduction to simulation games for the new to the genre and a well-spent time for the genre fans.
