CampgroundsCampgrounds

In almost one month we will find ourselves right in the beginning of the summer. One of the seasonal themes for casual games, of course, would be camps. Campgrounds is a newly released time-management game that uses this theme as a basis to add some other interesting story branches so to say.

Your hard work is timed here, but even if the time runs out you can still keep playing.

Campgrounds

Time-management games devide into several basis areas of life, like farms or diners. Building is one those big areas of that genre and often a part of other areas. You are to build campgrounds in this one. You will go from territory to another to develop another camp. And that is not just for fun but in order to grow a prosperous company.

But that's not it. You will also get to uncover secret campsites, follow the clues left behind by an ancient civilization and unearth a hidden artifact. And that is how you make your story more interesting! There seems to be 60 levels, with 6 hidden bonus levels.

Campgrounds

Your hard work is timed here, but even if the time runs out you can still keep playing. Or you can try to play the level again for the gold. There is always a smal introduction to the levels that can not be skipped. So deal with that.

You have to do a lot of clicking here especially as the game gets more challenging. A lot of strategy goes into achieving the best possible score. But you do need to do the planning before you start a level because your first move starts the time. The overall look of the game is bright and colorful without too much artwork put into it as typical for the genre.

The game is very enjoyable both gameplaywise and storywise.

I was one of the 4chan /v/ people that had the cchane to try the gmae when the beta got leaked, and saw something brilliant in it since the first moment. Upon following the link and learning what happened, i didn't hesitate to donate and preorder (i even bought the soundtrack the day it was released). Being from Mexico, and fairly new at oldskool gaming, since i started back in the day with the Intellivision, most of my videogamer history is attached to console gaming. I pretty much ignore all the little gems out there that you mentioned in the review (seems i have to do a little research, mind you). I have to say, you just nailed it when you mention VVVVVV gives you hope at all times (while at the same time, with the trophies room you can aim to get better). One cannot feel but to admire Terry's creativity. I really hope he keeps surprising us, since people like him is scarce nowadays. To any of you out there, still wondering if a simplistic yet challenging game that everybody is talking about is worth 15 dls, i have to say: yes. Every single dime. If not for the game (blasphemy), for giving Terry the cchane to create more gems like this one. Do it, now.
