Dark Parables: Curse of Briar Rose - MCF style is back!
Meet a new game at Gamemile which though not branded as Mystery Case Files but evidently belongs to this series what you can easily be convinced of after a couple minutes of playing. So, Dark Parables: Curse of Briar Rose is exactly what MCF fans have been waiting for since the last MCF Dire Grove was completed successfully. This time the developers took a good old fairy-tale about the Sleeping Beauty as a principle of the game. However, the no less glorious detective hasn't been forgotten either and is already waiting for your assistance to solve the thousand years old mystery of the cursed princess.
A thousand years later you are to do the Prince's job: to break the spell and save the Princess.
First of all a little of History - as you see, the opening cutscenes recap the famous and well known story: one day the Princess was born the king held a great festival and invited all but one godmother, who was strong in sorcery yet wicked at heart. Upon hearing the news, the Evil Godmother placed a curse on the newborn child. Later in life, the young Princess came across a spindle in a dusty old room and pricked her finger. The inhabitants instantly fell under a sleeping spell while briars burst from the ground and shrouded the castle. One day, a daring prince braved the thick vines and ventured into the castle the way it should be. Upon finding the Princess, he gave her a kiss which was foretold to free the Princess from her curse. Though the kiss removed the briars and awakened the inhabitants, the Princess never rose from her eternal slumber. Many years have passed and the truth behind the sleeping Princess had been forgotten. What remains is the tale passed down through generations as "The Sleeping Beauty".
Here it is - a new look at the old legend. However, now a Prince is powerless, as after a thousand years it takes a Detective and you to sort it out. So, from the very first scene you realize you have already dealt with graphics and sounds like these. Of course, you know what game series I mean. But nice surprises aren't over yet. What has really been carefully worked at (can you remember any bad or repeated puzzles in this kind of games by BigFishGames? I don't) is minigames. Be sure you won't find any you are bored to death with in these average hidden objects which have been flooding the market in the recent time.
Hidden Objects scenes have also been changed rather into the Mortimer Beckett style as now you have to look for pieces of an item that will come in handy and get this item after the HOG task is complete. Actually, all you have to do is find your way into the castle, solve a multitude of puzzles, fight your way past the evil godmother who is apparently still hanging around, and save the day. And don't delay the adventure as all of us are keen to know what really happened to the poor Briar Rose (her original name from the Brothers Grimm tale). Explore 12 chapters of the story returning back from time to time to obtain needed items in previous locations and scaring wandering souls of the Princess and the Evil Godmother.
On the whole, the game seems well improved and polished, so it is definitely worth your time and efforts!
