Heroes of Hellas, developed by Jaibo Games and published by Alawar, is a highly-polished  match-three game.

 

You are going to get into the whirlpool of the things happening among the Greek mythology gods.

 

 

 

Your help is urgently needed on Mount Olympus. 

 

The story of the game is as follows. You find out that Zeus himself needs your help now as he lost the sceptre he uses for controlling Heaven and Earth.

 

So your task is to go and search Greece and find it. The celebrities of that time and reality, Hercules, Icarus and Perseus, are to assist you in accomplishing the task.

 

You get their help after each main level as you reveal the portrait of a different Greek hero.

 

Apart from helping the ruler of Mount Olympus, you are also to build a magnificent palace. In this task a god of the fire of blacksmiths, Hephaestus, is going to help you.

 

In order to complete the level you are to reveal all of the gold plates that are hidden behind some of the hexagons within a limited period of time.

 

The story is interesting but you are also to deal with a three-in-a-row game as well as different mini-games.

 

The playing field is represented by a unique-shaped grids made up from hexagons.

 

Every hexagon contains an item - a gem, a coin or an arrow. You are to click and hold the mouse over one of these items.

 

Then you pull the whole row till the item connects with as least three others of the same type. Letting go the mouse you make the items disappear and new ones fill up the room.

 

In order to complete the level you are to reveal all of the gold plates that are hidden behind some of the hexagons within a limited period of time.

 

The game is full of both power-ups and power-downs.

 

The game is full of power-ups. The lightning bolt power-up, for example, destroys all of the nearby objects and the clock power-up gives you some more time to complete the level.

 

As to the power-downs, there are quite a number of them. You are to deal with them by getting them into your matching line or by destroying the items around it.

 

You can also collect red semiprecious stones into your collection. You need to get them into an open spot by getting rid of the items underneath it. 

 

The game is a great example of a high-quality casual match-three game. Great story and challenging levels intertwined makes up for a good pastime.
