Midnight Mysteries: Salem Witch TrialsMidnight Mysteries: Salem Witch Trials

Many games of the hidden object genre deal with mysteries and unnatural stuff. But few actually render the creepy atmosphere. Midnight Mysteries: Salem Witch Trials from Mumber Jumbo is one of those few. The game is a sequel of the  Midnight Mysteries: The Edgar Allen Poe Conspiracy.

If there was something to make the first game so good, then you can expect even more of that in here.

Midnight Mysteries: Salem Witch TrialsYou will have to travel back in time again to investigate a mysterious death. This time you will find yourself in 17th century Salem, Massachusetts, site of the infamous Salem witch trials.

The person whose death you are to investigate is another famous author who died under weird circumstances. Nathaniel Hawthorne's ghost can't find rest without finding out the truth about his death in that strange snow storm.

You'll be dealing with ghosts, poltergeists, and even former president Franklin Pierce. The story moves along at a nice pace and does a good job of staying mysterious until the very end. The investigation will have you collecting clues, interrogating witnesses, and solving puzzles. All of the investigation information will be recorded in your handy notebook. That serves well when you want to refresh the memory after a break.

Midnight Mysteries: Salem Witch Trials

Being the mix of adventure and hidden object genres you'll  have to scour the dark village for items, some of which will be used to solve puzzles later on. There are traditional HOG scenes, which give you a list of items to find before you can move on, as well as scenes that don't tell you what you need to find.

Glowing green the items to find in those scenes will hint you. By the way, the hints are actually limited here, but you can help yourself by collecting the crows all over the scenes.

The graphics are just so perfect for the game. The scenes look amazing and create a totally spooky atmosphere. The game is not just as it's predecessor, but even better in some ways.

The game is a perfect hidden object/adventure mix in a great wrapping.
