Mystery of Shark Island - Seek-and-Find Puzzle for Robinson Crusoe
Today I had a chance to remember myself as a child gathering shells, stones and other "useful" stuff at the seaside. These sweet reminiscences together with a feeling of summer bliss came to my mind because of the same Mystery of Shark Island game.
Clear blue waves of a tender ocean cover you in the beginning of the game (and this feeling continues each level). But they hide some mystery in the ocean depth and you are to unravel it. The main aim is to find a key to a chest and learn everything about this island and its riddles.
The task of Mystery of Shark Island differs a little bit from the usual hidden-objects game. Don't expect to find a list of items to find and florid cluttered rooms.
Azure peaceful sea waves bring you a mixture of precious objects and useless junk.
The playing field is sown with shells, stones, conchs, algae e.t.c. You are to find and pick up in this variety all needed items (4-5 usually), displayed on the bottom of the playing field.
Some of them may be buried underneath the sand. Brush the sand away by sweeping your mouse over it. Other obstacles are heavy rocks. When you see them, hold the mouse button down over the rock to lift it. Each object that you find earns you points and gets your progress running.
While seeking the beach be very attentive as you may find some golden coins, which are your bonuses. Get them to complete the level much faster and more efficiently.
Thus, one bonus may wave your timer restored, while another one removes all rocks or increases the speed with which you pick up rocks and so forth. Also you may increase your results if you finish early.
In such a case you'll be awarded with a time bonus. Pick up 10 shells without picking up piece of a junk to increase your score multiplayer. It is also possible to get a chaining bonus: pick up multiple shells of the same type in a row.
As the game follows, it gets slightly complicated. More and more items are hidden under the sand. Be ready to find a black silhouette of a required object in the task list instead of a picture.
But level after level you approach the clue as more keys are collected (they will be shown each time when you get them).
What's more, you'll have a chance to observe the island from different angles as the game may put you closer to the shore or far enough that you can hardly see the objects. Thus, from the most general view of the group of islands (a map as a shark) you'll move to the very sandy shore with its meticulous pieces.
There are two modes in Mystery of Shark Island: Story Mode and Arcade Mode. Though both of them have a time limit, Arcade Mode features a number of differences.
Here you are trying to survive for as long as you can and earn as more points as possible. You must pick up every item in the list of every wave. If it happens that you miss an item, you'll loose one of your five lives.
They are shown in the bottom of the playfield and designed as yellow stars. In the end of the levels you are to solve an additional puzzle: to complete a picture of a door out of a number of separate pieces.
No matter if you are into summer time fun or computer puzzles, you can't stay indifferent to the quality graphics and splendid music of Mystery of Shark Island. Lots of azure and sandy colors together with the sound of sea tide are doubtless pros of this game.
