Most of us read the stories about Sherlock Holmes in childhood. Personally I did. And I have always dreamt of helping the detective in his work. Now we have a wonderful opportunity to do this - and have tons of pleasure while solving the mystery that has confused the best minds of Scotland-Yard. And of that we have no doubts, because in the beginning of the game Sherlock Holmes receives a plea of help from this most qualified police department in the whole Britain. And this is exactly what prevents both Holmes and Watson from going for a vacation - for what can be a better rest than an amazing adventure?

The story begins not very merrily, for the only evidence our heroes have is the body of a young painter wrapped into the rare Persian carpet that has been stolen not so long ago from its owners. Starting with this scarce information you will uncover the mystery to the very end. For this you will have to solve numerous puzzles and think logically. As deduction was the main principle Sherlock always used in his work, you'll also need it in the game.

On each level you have three main locations where you can act. The first is 221a, Baker Street, where you'll find Deduction Board (a place to establish relations between items and people), Persian Carpet puzzles and a mini-lab for examining discovered objects (a microscope, water, solvent, etc. are at your disposal). Come here after you have completed the locations on the city map - the main place where you'll spend most of your playing time. On each level you'll have access to one or several spots to investigate. On each spot there is a list of items to find, a puzzle to solve and may be some acts to perform with the found items. If you have played Dream Chronicles, you'll know what I'm talking about. Some of the tasks are really challenging, and you have only three hints per level, so try to use them wisely. The third location is the police department where you are offered to read crime reports, testimonies and suspets' records - invaluable information sometimes!

Tip: look at the cursor carefully, for it changes into gears or magnifying glass when a certain action is needed - that can be of much help.
