Yard Sale Junkie - More Work On New Twists

 

Yard Sale Junkie - a new hidden-object game developed and published by Sudden Games. The game does have some innovative twists.

 

But they are not as worked out as they could have been. So I find it hard to say if the game is all good or all bad. Those are balanced in this game.

 

 

You are to go through a number of garage and yard sales to get $30,000 for a boutique in Beverly Hills.

 

You play as a girl named Shirley who wants to open her own boutique in Beverly Hills. As it's not a time-management game it takes the whole game not a few levels to do that. Otherwise the game wouldn't be called Yard Sale Junkie, right.

 

So you are going to spend all of your time doing garage or yard sales. There is a map that shows your destinations one by one. And even though the map tells you that you are in Hollywood or Santa Monica, you generally can not tell this by the screen.

 

It would have been much better if graphics reflected the places and their uniqueness. Plus if we talk about graphics, I should say that they are way disappointing. I mean if you played the hidden object hits you will notice that this game looks a little bit behind the times.

 

The game features such things as customers telling you what they want and multiple scenes that add uniqueness to the game, but these features seem to not be worked out very well.

 

Taking into account that you are at yard sales the clattered hidden-object game scenes fit perfectly. The only problem is that sometimes the graphics are too dark or blurry and you can't actually see the items. But what is special about this game is that you have to move the items in order to check what's behind them.

 

Another innovative twist is that customers appear in boxes telling you what item they want and what price they offer for it. Sometimes you are going to have two customers trying to get the same thing. You can take advantage of the situation and choose the higher bidder.

 

Once in a while Shirley holds a themed sale where she sells the items of one kind. If it is something small like watches or butterflies then your screen zooms in so that you could see something. Later in the game you get multiple scenes where you can go from one to another.

 

So here it is, Yard Sale Junkie, a hidden object game with some fresh twists that need some more work.
