Zoo Vet: Endangered Animals - it's all in your hands, Doc!
Playfirst and Legacy Interactive welcome you to try your hand as a veterinarian in Zoo Vet: Endangered Animals. The game offers absolutely unique and innovative game play and great informational and educational value due to real-life cases and scenarios provided by real-life veterinarians.
In Zoo Vet you will find yourself working as a veterinarian doctor in a zoo full of exotic animals cooperating with a wonderful team of assistants and all their experience and qualification at your disposal.
Meet Dean, Holly, Andrew and Regina - your faithful helpers. They will guide you through each of the cases and give you all the necessary information. So, your first day of work in the zoo starts...
Your first location is your study. Here you'll learn who of the zoo dwellers need your help and from here you'll travel to any location on the zoo map. The map will tell about the condition of each animal: needs treatment, happy and healthy, treated. Your zoo has quite a large variety of animals - polar bears, zebras, elephants, crocodiles and many more from five climatic zones: Tropics, Savannah, Arctic, Forest and Desert. And all of them need your close attention. But we'll dwell on it a bit later. And now let me tell you more about the study first. Besides the map you will find a computer there - and that is realy useful both for your education and for having additional fun. first, it contains comprehensive information on all the tools you'll use during the game, a glossary of medical terms, useful info on animals you'll meet, history of veterinary profession, pros and cons of different careers and even some contemplations on future. Second, it offers you a couple of mini-games to enjoy in between your hard medical work. How about answering a couple of questions in trivia mode or completing some jigsaw puzzles?
But enough entertainment. Sick animals need your help desperately. For treating each animal and handling each case you will need to perform a certain sequence of action. First, talk to the personnel to find out some crucial information (ask only the helpful questions). Then examine the patient. You will need to monitor some vital functions like respiration rate or pulse and make some tests, including blood tests and so on. Stethoscope, syringes, portable X-Ray and many more will be your best friends in this phase. After you have determined the problem you can begin treatment. It includes maintenance, medications and even operations - everything depends on the problem. Here you will also need to use lots of tools and aids and make some choices. After completing all the steps you have to name your diagnosis. If everything is OK and you managed to handle the case and get enough points, you can pass to the next sufferer. But before that Dean will review the case with you and let you know of your mistakes and correct moves. In case of failure you'll be given 3 more attempts to deal with the patient. If you don't know what to do - use a hint. But actually the notes are comprehensive enough for you to treat everyone efficiently.
One aspect of the game needs to be mentioned - it's all very realistic. The graphics is 3D and all the animals look like they are alive (actually, all the wounds and sore areas also look veeeery realistic - not recommended if you are afraid of blood or something). Moreover, you get loads of real medical information concerning different diseases, treatment, importance of various functions for the animals, etc. If you are an aspiring veterinarian - the game is a great chance to see how it is going to be.
Overall I would say it's a great game if you enjoy medicine, animals and treatment. And you'll learn really much!
