It only takes a moment to do something nice for someone!
Random Acts of Kindness Day is celebrated annually in the United States on February 17, although the idea is recognized for the entire week.
Officially Random Acts of Kindness Day is an unofficial holiday. The banks don't close, picnics are rarely planned, and there's no flag commemorating the day.
However, it's celebrated across the world as a time to do something for someone for no reason. Ideas to celebrate the day are all around. And various events take place, mostly through local organizations, events and efforts. It's really common in schools. It's a day set aside to focus specifically on being kind. The goal of the one-day focus is to encourage people to engage in acts of kindness all the time.
There are thousands of ideas that you can do to celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Day. While some may cost money, there are many things that can be done to brighten someone’s day for free. If everyone takes the extra time to look around, be kind and make someone smile, the kindness may go on for much more than a day.
Do something nice today just because it would make someone smile or help them out. In today's depressed world, I do not know of a single person that could not use a smile or a feel-good moment.
Something as simple as a compliment or a smile or letting someone cut in line at the store is worth more than we realize. Doing a chore for a neighbor or family member, visiting with an elderly person that is lonely, buy someone a cup of coffee in line behind you. Can you imagine their surprise? Can you imagine the feeling you will have by just giving a little love and kindness to someone? It's beautiful and powerful and we can spread love and joy, simply by doing small things.
There is not enough kindness in the world, and it's sad to think that we need a holiday to remind us to offer a helping hand or words of encouragement. It is something we should do everyday without conscious thought, or the need for compensation.
Random acts of kindness and love are simply things that make someone feel good.
