Hidden Mysteries - Civil War - Historic Seek-and-Find Game
I suppose that you get an idea of the general background of the game
from its name. Yes, you are right, it's about the events from American
history.
And that is what makes Hidden Mysteries - Civil War developed by Gunnar Games and published by GameMill quite special.
You are to get to know the life stories of three generals - William Walker, Richard Boyer and James Munroe.
You find yourself on a battlefields in
America. The events described in the game are from 1861-1865. You are
told the life stories of three fictional generals - William Walker,
Richard Boyer and James Munroe. It's actually a pity that the
characters are not real. It would have been much more interesting to
learn some true facts about the real people who participated in the war.
Well, at least, the places you get into are absolutely real. The
stories of our generals take us to Wilson's Creek, Shiloh, Fort Sumter,
Fredericksburg, Gettysburg etc. But it's kind of weird when you are to
find something like tape or glass in scenes like that.
The game features two modes - Relaxed and Timed.
There's
also a part where you are to decode a letter that you get. It is fun to
read them because they give you some details about the lives of the
characters. The seek-and-find process gets challenging when you are
asked to find the items that are very tiny or hardly seen.
It can take a hint, but again, hints only show the area of an item and
hints last only for a short period of time. So even using the hints is
not always easy here.
The game features two modes - Relaxed and
Timed. I guess the difference between the two is obvious. The bad thing
is that no matter which one you choose the game is still pretty short.
The game has its pros and cons and it's
up to you to decide what to do about it, but it's still special and
unusual with its story line.
