Secret Missions: Mata Hari and the Kaiser's Submarines - The Spy Novel From
Inside
I bet each of you has heard the name of Mata Hari, perhaps the most famous female spy in
history. Now you have a chance to get an inside look into the dangerous but extremely
enthralling work of secret agents during the World War I.
This charming woman is more than just exotic dancer. Need any proof?
Then follow the path of Mata Hari, the famous historical figure and the main character of
the game, whose name means "Eye of the Day" in Malay, as she ventures to the dangerous
mission as a spy for the Allies under the guise of an exotic dancer. During the game she
will search different locations, seduce men, learn the details of top secret military
operations and in the end find the secret German submarine base. in the course of her work
the beauty meets different people and visits different locations for clues.
The whole game play is divided into separate missions, and for each of them you will have a
number of tasks to accomplish. The tasks will be presented to you one by one, so you never
know when the mission is complete. One of the disappointing moments is that your progress is
saved only in the beginning of the next mission, so be sure to leave the game only in
between levels in order to start where you stopped before.
A mission starts in your suite in Excelsior Hotel, where you'll receive a coded message with
instructions from your superviser Captain Ladoux, and ends at the same place with encrypting
a report for him - both actions including solving a puzzle. In each mission you will have to
search a several scenes for hidden items. There are not lots of them, but they are sometimes
very hard to notice - for these cases you can use one of the rechargeable hints. After
finding all the items you'll have to perform some actions with them and solve a number of
mini-puzzles, some rather challenging and some very simple.
Sometimes you'll also have to choose an outfit for Mata in order to
seduce men she meets. This task could be much more entertaining if you
had to actually choose the dress and
accessories and not just scroll them until the game tells you which to
take.
On the whole the game is quite addictive, puzzles interesting and
audiovisuals pleasant, though some aspects could use improvement. Worth
a try, if you are looking for a quest to enjoy.
