Game Review   2011-05-09

Allora and The Broken PortalAllora and The Broken Portal

This time you have chance to play a typical hidden object/adventure gamein a wonderful fairy-tale land. It is a break from bloody, spooky, horrifying, mysterious atmosphere. Even though there are some problems to solve, it is kind of more friendly.

There are all kinds of little puzzles. You just come across them along the way. They serve as a nice pause after a lot of searches.

Allora and The Broken Portal

You play as a young fairy girl who is now responsible for fixing a portal. I know I'm not saying more than the title itself, but that is mostly because the story that is told to you is not altogether very clear.

You get to meet a professor who did something wrong and now they need you, a human, to fix it. There is a small friend/mentor for you. It is an old mouse. You accomplish your  task through the familiar set of activities. You will have to play the hidden object levels and you will play them a lot. Entering almost every location, you will have to find all the items on the list. Those are sometimes hard to find. But this is the case when it is hard to find because the scene is not cluttered, but rather clean with everything that belongs there.

Then there are all kinds of little puzzles. You just come across them along the way. They serve as a nice pause after a lot of searches.

There also searches for you as you wander across the land. You will have to collect and use different inventory items. You will have to look for crystals also. This part of the game takes the second place according to the time spent on it.

The graphics are very fairy-talish. They are very beautiful, though, and detailed. The soundtrack mathces the game theme and atmosphere a lot.

The game is a perfect getaway for the hidden object searches fans.
