Leaves: The Journey
Lose yourself in the surreal adventures that await in the exploration puzzle adventure game, Leaves: The Journey. There are these cute little creatures called, “Treefruities,” and they live in a giant tree, which has just lost all of its leaves to a gust of wind.
There are some important items that you will need to pick up along the way and not everything is one-use (that’s a big hint).
They can’t leave their tree in this condition, so somebody needs to travel around the mystical land of Monomino to pick them up and bring them back to their rightful owners. That somebody is you! Get ready for a real adventurous challenge with Leaves: The Journey.
The land of Monomino is no cake-walk. You will have to stretch your imagination to pick up on the subtle clues that will present themselves along the way. The developers who created this game are clearly some artistic geniuses as you will see as you trot around the land. The puzzles and obstacles that you will face along the way are an absolutely aesthetic delight. Build your inventory as you go along.
There are some important items that you will need to pick up along the way and not everything is one-use (that’s a big hint). Another hint: if you are looking for something, like a door or passageway, try hovering your mouse around the screen and watching to see if it will change colours.
Among the challenging puzzles you will face are a couple of doozies that are unique to this brand. There is a weird wedge-shaped jigsaw puzzle that’s especially difficult as the shapes are unlike what you may be accustomed to. Another jigsaw requires you to rotate all the pieces in a trippy fashion. There is another puzzle that is like trying to match up a key to a lock with many detailed notches and grooves. There’s even a clock puzzle later on in the game, in which you have to use a clue from earlier.
The integration of the storyline and the puzzles is truly a mark of some professional game development, but the artistic motif throughout really puts this game over the top. Two thumbs up!
