Shadow Shelter
This game, Shadow Shelter, really stands out. It doesn't really belong to the hiddne object puzzle adventure group because of the stronger emphasis on the hidden object searches. It is also seems to be quite creepier than what the games that claim to be creepy look like.
The game play is ver streightforward without going back and forth.

You play as a private investigator sent to Scotland to find a missing heir of a mansion. But game's story the the game play seems to be focused on the mansion more than on the missing guy, but it is not so imoprtant for the player, right? The huge house is abandoned and full od ghosts and spirits you will have to deal with to find the heir.
As it is said above the game looks really dark and creepy. One of the characters is a small boy, who to be honest doesn't make you want to cuddle him or get to know him. The music and voice overs are good and dark, too.

The game play is ver streightforward without going back and forth. There's a bit of adventure and a few mini-games, but the main focus is on the hiddne object scenes.
They come in different forms and shapes. There are word lists, several of one item tasks, black-and-white images of item etc. Some are interactive. There's a hidden object scene in every location. There's a map and a journal to lead you and to keep all the inforamtion accordingly.
The game does not have some of the common features, but it really is not bad even without them!
