Twisted: A Haunted Carol 2010-12-09

What is your favorite Christmas story? When the winter comes, the evenings become longer and upcoming holiday brings you many expectations, thoughts and wishes for forgiveness I take a book and while it is snowing outside prefer to stay in a cozy arm-chair. Usually it’s A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens – a touching story of regret and redemption. Last year Robert Zemeckis has presented a film adaptation of the story, known as Disney's A Christmas Carol. And this year a game by Gogii based on the same theme has been issued right before the Christmas Eve. Though the plot is already 167 years old it reveals the still burning issues of the day. And thanks to the imagination of the game developers of Twisted: A Haunted Carol we may enjoy the unexpected twists of the well-known story.

Cake Mania: To the Max takes on time-travelling theme again, but don't think that it will be boring. This time you go bake into 1980's. The question that pops up in your mind must be "What was in the 1980's ?". Well I will gladly let you know. Those are the times of Jill's high school era. So we are moving back and forth within the story of one character just like in a good epic. This time things are going to happen in one bakery instead of a series of shops. Some will surely say that this is a boredom provoking feature, but I'm sure there will be others, who will appreciate this focus on one place. You'll stay there for 100 levels in one of the two modes - Timed or Relaxed, depending on your taskes and skills.

You play as a relatively little girl, whose mom is accused of witchcraft. And all of that happens in 1692, so your mom does need some help if she doesn't want to be tortured. The following things you come across in the game point out that the family does have something to do with some sort of witchcraft. So the adventure starts when you run away from the hands of the guards which came for your mom and then go to the prison to rescue her. The graphics are really beautiful and detailed and animated. If this part of the game is important for you, you will enjoy it. The voice-overs are just as great with a good English accent. What I noticed very soon is that the game doesn't make a clear separation between the story telling, puzzles, hidden object levels, and interactive adventures. It is awesome because it creates a feeling of something new withing a same old genre.

This game is a sequel to the original game about a girl that stood up against robots in the area of work quality, and as you can guess she won since we have her in the sequel, but some robot. So Nikki is now up to another series of groceries generously offered by her uncle. The uncle is a mogul having no problem to give her niece run many groceries as she wants it. But not only good characters are back, but also the evil professor's assistant is back to make your life harder again. Other than that the game is very similar to the first one. If you are not familiar with the original game, you might want to take a not-very-short tutorial. It might be useful because then you won't be wondering how to make that stupid coffee, when everyone else in the store needs your help and their patience is going down.
